Turmeric And Honey | The Strongest Antibiotic From Nature

Start Your Morning With A Turmeric Honey Anti

Weve gone a long winter without fresh, local produce and its many nutrients, and this is the time of year when we start to pay for it. We are at the peak of health imbalance right before spring starts, and our bodies often surrender to end-of-winter flu and colds. And then we take over-the-counter medicines for these illnesses, adding one more burden to our already tired liver.

While waiting for the sunny days to come, the only thing we can actually do to ease our transition towards spring greens galore is to turn back one more time to natural health boosters. For me, its always about turmeric.

Taking Turmeric As A Medicine

Turmeric isnt readily used by the body in its raw state. Catalysts to release its full healing power are fat, black pepper, and heat. To improve bioavailability, mix the recipe with a spoonful coconut or olive oil, add black pepper, or mix it in hot water and drink as a tea.

Due to its many complex phytochemical constituents, eating turmeric is contraindicated if you take any of the following:

  • 100 grams raw, unpasteurized, unfiltered wild honey
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
  • Mix ingredients in a small bowl until well combined.
  • Store at room temperature in a glass jar.
  • Feel free to use this combination every day, as needed.

If you begin to feel ill, up the dosage:

  • First day ½ tablespoon every hour
  • Second day ½ tablespoon every 2 hours
  • Third day ½ tablespoon 3 times a day
  • If you take it straight from the jar, allow the mixture to slowly dissolve in your mouth, rather than immediately swallowing it. The membranes in your mouth are very thin and will allow the mixture to be absorbed more quickly into your bloodstream.

There you have it! Youll be on your feet again in no time!

    Health Benefits Of Turmeric

Turmeric is one of the most powerful natural food items in terms of medicinal benefits, which is exactly the reason why it is a potent part of most Ayurvedic medicines. It is mainly because of the ingredient called curcumin, which is the major reason for turmerics healing power.

Following are the major benefits of turmeric:

    • Inflammation is very important for our body, as it helps fight the pathogens and disease-causing bacteria. However, it is only good when it happens in a limit. Chronic inflammation can lead to some serious trouble, and this is where consuming turmeric can aid your body in stopping it. Turmeric is so efficient in this aspect that it can beat most anti-inflammatory drugs in the market, as it has no side effects.
    • Free radicals can speed up the process of oxidation in the body, leading to faster ageing and development of diseases. The antioxidant properties of turmeric can protect your body from these free radicals, improve blood circulation and hence the immune system to fight diseases.
    • Curcumin helps in improving the functionality of endothelium, the thin lining on your blood vessels. If this lining gets thick or stops functioning in the ideal manner, then it can lead to heart diseases.
    • Turmeric works as a great anti-ageing supplement. Drinking turmeric milk and honey or applying the mix of haldi and honey topically on your skin can reduce scars and acne on the skin and make the skin healthy from within.

We dont have a fever thermometer in our house. Its not necessary. Instead we measure the weirdness-level in our daily activities. So when someone does something exceptionally weird, we know he/she has got a fever . For example, Luise is pretty certain that I had a fever two days ago. Why else was I cooking ginger caramels, completely off-holiday season and with our book manuscript deadline only 90 hours away ? Its typical hallucinatory behavior. I even tried to justify my actions by claiming that my caramels actually were medicin. Which only had Luise suspecting that I was in urgent need of medical attention.

All members in our family have spent the last 10 days sneezing, sniffling and coughing from a nasty cold. So when I on a recent visit to our local Asian market found small Chinese ginger caramels that were eye-tearingly and sinus-clearingly fierce, I thought to myself that this was exactly what we needed. I started experimenting with my own recipe and actually got a pretty good batch on the first try. They were oozing with ginger and still very sweet and soft from the honey. It was a nice accomplishment, but I admit that my priorities were unexpectedly weird. And looking back, can I honestly call them medicine? Nope. They were just very tasty caramels. Perhaps Ill share the recipe with you anyway, a bit closer to Christmas.

Here are Luises explanations of the science behind the magic:
